Lab Services Manager

Compensation: $35,360.00 - $50,000.00 Annually

The lab services manager position is responsible for managing laboratory support staff and maintaining an adequate inventory of research lab, materials, and laboratory equipment. The position ensures effective operation of all laboratory equipment, manages all laboratory personnel, the supplies, and maintenance of equipment. Provides customer service for all Moisture Intrusion Solutions personnel and outside customers. The position ensures that all regulatory requirements are adhered to.

  • Serve as liaison between Director of Lab Services and FGIA Field Testing and lab technicians to provide organized communication and work.
  • Direct lab technicians related to set up and assistance with laboratory testing and to ensure that all Laboratory testing is done to the industry regulated standard.
  • Responsible for overseeing purchasing of all materials needed for general lab use and required testing and ensure laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies are maintained.
  • Remain current on applicable standards for lab testing services and notify the Director of Lab Services and FGIA Field Testing of needs for additional equipment and/or training of staff.
  • Interface as required with customers on lab services-related issues.
  • Collect data from lab testing and compile into a report deliverable to the Client. Where applicable, coordinate review of report by Professional Engineer (P.E).
  • Act as an advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve conflicts.
  • Signatory responsibilities include sign-off of final laboratory testing reports, and development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform activities in support of MIS/NTS operations as directed by the Director of Lab Services and AAMA Field Testing, and Executive Management.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as Safety Coordinator with responsibilities and authority to:
a. Establish, implement and maintain guidelines for company-wide safety program, including laboratory, field testing and field consulting.
b. Develop outline and gather information for monthly safety meetings.
c. Coordinate safety meetings with the Vice Presidents of Investigations / Field Testing and Field Consulting Services and Director of Laboratory Services for presentation during the monthly project review meetings.
d. Serve as the main point of contact for safety-related issues throughout the company.
e. Remain current on applicable standards for safety procedures and notify top management of safety performance, including need for modification of existing guidelines or implementation of new guidelines.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management of the employees within that department.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a construction materials research and testing lab. This role routinely uses common testing equipment and requires the knowledge and use of common hand and power tools. This role requires the use of scientific testing procedures and methods which require the understanding of general math equations and their application.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employees must be able to climb ladders and on occasion work from heights.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Travel is not expected but may occasionally occur for educational/career development purposes.

Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma
  • Five years of experience in laboratory.
  • Five Years of Management Experience.
  • OHSA 30 Hour for Construction Certification.

  • Preferred Education and Experience:
    • Five years of experience in laboratory. Preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in science field. Preferred
    • Two years of Construction Experience Preferred
    • Experience with Fenestration. Preferred

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
    Must possess a valid Drivers License with a clean driving history.

    Work Authorization
    Must be eligible to work in the United States.
